Villains, Sanity’s Last Hope
Have you ever wondered what world famous villains would have to say about the state of the world today? This is the question that was explored in this year’s culminating film at the Urban Assembly Academy of Government and Law: Villains, Sanity’s Last Hope
Under the direction teaching artist Brett Tubbs, this original film portrays famous villains like Medusa, Joker, Harley Quinn, and Maleficent; all making the case to a judge for re-taking their rightful place as villains of the world.
“We each bring to you today a complaint most dire on the state of our current world. Due to the lack of wit and whimsy in today's villains, too many groups are truly suffering.” says Medusa in her opening statement, followed by speaking passionately about women’s right to safety and autonomy. And then she sings Britney Spears’ “Toxic”--- Don’t let me forget to mention that it’s a jukebox musical too!
