Legally Blonde @ Grover Cleveland HS
When BAE began providing programming at Grover Cleveland High School this Fall, the initial plan was to provide musical theater classes one day a week, to provide support for first-year theater teacher, Ms Guo, and to work towards some sort of culminating performance - perhaps a talent show? a cabaret? Something simple. Something that would be a guaranteed success. Something much smaller than where we ended up!
In mid-Winter, fueled by the early successes of our partnership and excitement of program participants, we had a brief conversation that can be easily summarized by the <<—adjacent meme.
It wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for the huge commitment made by the school administration’s investment in additional support and equipment. While some school partnerships can leave us feeling like we are operating in a silo, Grover Cleveland set the gold-standard for collaboration. Administrators and co-teachers were incredibly receptive to BAE’s guidance, and while the learning curve was steep at times, the school year ended with an incredibly successful production that left program participants feeling proud of their accomplishments, and the school administration feeling satisfied with the return on their investment with BAE.
Legally Blonde was BAE’s fifth and final school musical of 24-25, with over 40 students participating. With year one under our belts, we can’t wait to see what more we can accomplish in partnership with Grover Cleveland High School!
